Shiatsu – the option that doesn’t involve needles

Centraal Beheer Commercial: Acupuncture

***Warning this shows pictures of acupunture taking place***

This made me smile and thankful that Shiatsu treatments are given to clients who are fully clothed and doesn’t involve needles.

    Hi Eric,

I agree that this advert is completely over the top in relation to the amount of needles used. I’ve had acupuncture and know that this doesn’t give a true representation of it.

You’re comment has lead me to look at how the media portrays TCM. There has been some great investigative programmes, but the stuff that goes out to the masses generally shows it in a humourus non serious light and I have unintentionally added to this perception, so apologies for that.

I will try to give more thought to the effect my blog can have on TCM, as I want to promote it in a positive light rather than highlight the goofy perception thats out there.

Thanks for your comment and keep em coming.

Every time I see this horrible video it makes me cringe! If I ever got a treatment like this, I’d be sure to tell all my friends to avoid the doc – and NOT just because of the ending! I do think that the general public has the idea that acupuncture involves a lot of needles – which shouldn’t be true most of the time if the doctor is worth his/her salt.

Anyway – it is nice to have different modalities. :) Thanks for your great work on the blog.

    Eric
