What a fantastic idea from the Chinese Medicine Times people

Posted by tfootitt on August 7, 2007

A free online Chinese Medicine encylopedia, what a great idea!

I guess the main thing to keep in mind is that anyone can update it and add information, so like any source  of information, you need to consider how accurate it is.

I’m sure the people at the Chinese Medicine Times will have this covered though, especially as you need to be a registered professional.

“Chinese Medicine Times is pleased to announce the latest addition to its
network, an online encyclopedia for Chinese medicine and acupuncture. We’ve
called it CMTpedia; http://www.chinesemedicinetimes.com/wiki/CMTpedia

The aim of CMTpedia is to become a vast open source of online information
available to practitioners, students, colleges, universities and the general
public alike.

The online encylcopedia already numbers more than 1500 pages. By using internet
standard encylopedia software wiki, users can add and extract useful
information. For example, by using the ‘what links here’ function you can see
what diseases are associated with the pattern
Spleen Qi Deficiency:

Or what patterns the formula Gui Pi Tang can be used to treat:

Once info is inputted for individual herbs and acupuncture points, data can be
extracted for them as well.

CMTpedia pages can be viewed by anyone including non registered members.
However, only those that have registered an account as a healthcare professional
can edit pages on CMTpedia. This is to help prevent spam and maintain a high
quality of content.

Registered members will also have the added benefit of seamless access to the
CMT forum system.

Registration is free, so sign up and see what you can add:

What a fantastic resource! Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m also thankful for the rest of your blog – it’s hard to find good Chinese medicine related blogs. I’m your newest subscriber!
